 Grace H. Sears, 75, of Watseka, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2017.

She was born on August 2, 1942 in Sycamore, Illinois, the daughter of Paul Gunn and Gabrielle (Vanderbrugen) Gunn.

Grace married Calvin Sears on May 29, 1965 in Aurora, Illinois. She was a homemaker and enjoyed crocheting. She was also an active member of the First Baptist Church in Watseka, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and TOPS.

Surviving Mrs. Sears is one son and daugher-in-law, Dwayne and Christina Sears of Gary, IN; one sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Wayne Hanna of East Moline, IL; step-sister, Jusy Stricklan; step-son, Joe and Shirley Sears of Salem, IL; step-daughter, Carol Baldus of Seymour, IN; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in passing by both parents; husband, Calvin Sears; and one brother.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2017 from 5pm until 7pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, IL.

Funeral Services will take place on Friday, November 17, 2017 at 11:00am, at the First Baptist Church in Watseka, IL. A one hour visitation will be held prior to services. Rev. Ray Jackson and Rev. Roy Moffitt will officiate.

Burial will follow at Iroquois Memorial Park Cemetery in Watseka, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Mrs. Sears's name can be made to the Fisher House.

 Ronald Oberloh, 77, of Watseka, IL passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017.

He was born on February 28, 1940, the son of Edward Oberloh and Anna (Hurling) Oberloh.

Mr. Oberloh was a Maintenance Foreman for UARCO. He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, and most of all spending time with family.

Surviving Mr. Oberloh is one daughter, Karla Smithson of Ward, AR; two brothers and sisters-in-law's, Tom and Donna Oberloh of Woodland, IL and Bill and Mary Lou Oberloh of Texas; one grandchild, Loyal and Julie Smithson of Springdale, AR; three nieces; and three nephews.

He is also preceded in death by both parents; wives, Karen nee Turner and Maggie nee Schaumburg; fiance, Jo Jacobs; one brother; and one nephew.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 3, 2017 from 4pm until 7pm, at Baier Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 1:00 pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, IL. A one-hour visitation will take place prior to services. Pastor Dale Meyers will officiate.

Burial will follow at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Crescent City, IL.

Esther Patterson - 94

Esther Louise Patterson (Hawkes), 94, of Marysville, MI passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017.

Esther was born on July 28, 1923 to Arthur John Hawkes and Helen Carpenter Snook Hawkes in Sheldon, IL. They both precede her in death.

She attended school in Sheldon, IL. Esther married Marvin Eugene Patterson on June 8, 1941. Marvin preceded her in death on November 16, 1979 after thirty-eight years of marriage. They had eight children.

Esther was also preceded in death by four sons, Marvin (Skip) in 1999, Eugene in 1991, Fred in 2016, David in 2000; and one son-in-law, Ron Marshall in 2003.

Mrs. Patterson is survived by two daughters, Dianne Marshall of Anderson, IN and Lori and Jim Beatty of Marysville, MI; two sons, Kenneth and Nancy Patterson of Watseka, and Stanley and Kathy Patterson of Watseka; eighteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.

Esther was a member and past president of Royal Neighbors, as well as a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved playing bingo and doing crafts with her friends Laurie and Rosie.

A private family viewing was held on October 26, 2017 at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, IL, followed by a graveside service and burial at Iroquois Memorial Park Cemetery. Pasto Joseph Hughes officiated.

Carolyn Miller - 67

 Carolyn Miller, 67, of Watseka, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.

She was born March 21, 1950 in Kentucky, the daughter of William Jones and Jewel (Merrick) Jones.

Ms. Miller worked as a secretary before retiring. She enjoyed leather working, cross stitching, sewing, reading, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving Ms. Carolyn Miller is one son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Candy Miller of Riverton, WY; two daughters and son-in-law's, Kimberly and Eric Siebert of Arvada, CO, and Theresa and David Kellems of Watseka; brothers and sister-in-law's, Virgus and Joann Jones of Mustang, OK, Richard and Lora Jones of Sulphur Springs, TX, Donald and Norma Jones of Somerset, KY, and Gerald Jones of Sulphur Springs, TX; sisters and brother-in-law's, Betty Sears of Westminster, CO, Linda and Jerry Blair of Watseka, Delores and Mason Campbell of Lexington, KY, and Kathy and Rick Cadwallader of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren, Gabriel and Brendan Kellems, Kamen and Meya Miller, Zechariah Miller, and Logan and Sophia Siebert; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date.

Cremation Rites have been made accordingly.

Bradley Bernard Frederickson - 80

 Bradley Bernard Frederickson, 80, of Woodland, IL passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017.

He was born on November 26, 1936 in Chicago, IL, the son of Jerome Frederickson and Ellen (Hutter) Frederickson.

Bradley married Joyce Kester on February 8, 1968.

Mr. Frederickson was a dog trainer and co-owned Aloha Kennels for many years with his wife. He truly enjoyed working with dogs. Bradley was a loving father and friend who will be dearly missed.

Surviving Mr. Frederickson is his daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Robert Brandli of Mauston, WI; one grandchild, Brock Frederickson; special friends, Tim, Tina, William, Molly, and Andrew Ailey of Woodland, IL; and his four legged companion, Pierce.

He is preceded in death by both parents; wife, Joyce Frederickson; and two sons, Herbert and Michael.

Burial will be held at a later date at Papineau Cemetery.

Memorials in Mr. Frederickson's name can be made to the Kankakee County Humane Foundation.

John W. Urbanski Jr., 63, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017.

 

He was born on June 14, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of John W. Urbanski and Lorraine (Posch) Urbanski-Rulien

 

John married Sandra (Spooner) Heitz on October 15, 1994 in Arizona.

 

Mr. Urbanski worked as a residential instructor at a group home in Arizona. He enjoyed shopping and loved playing with his dog Brynda. John was also a member of the Moose.

 

Surviving Mr. Urbanski is his spouse, Sandra Urbanski of Watseka; one son, John Urbanski III of Tinley Park, IL; mother Phyllis Urbanski; one daughter and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Tamy Urbanski-Simpson of Alsip, IL; mother Phyllis Urbanski; step-son, Richard Heitz Jr. of Phoenix, AZ; step-daughters, Shannon and Shane Kimbler of Ashland, KY, and Starla and Dale Jewson of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Dyann and Doug Coffman of Sheldon, and Barbara Volkman and Robert Baumgardner of Orland Park, IL; grandchildren, John IV, Joshua, Jamie, Audrielle, Ashley, Brittany, Casey, Nicholas, Travis (Amanda), Makayla, Chelsey, Connor; great-grandchild, Everleigh; and nieces and nephews, Jonathon (Stephanie), Michael (Erica), and Paisley.

 

He is also preceded in death by both his parents.

 

Private services were held for the family.

Dorothy Trumble, 91, of Donovan, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

 

She was born on March 15, 1926 in Piper City, Illinois, the daughter of Samuel Blevins and Sarah (Carmichael) Blevins.

 

Dorothy married Jesse Trumble on January 1, 1945 in Watseka.

 

Dorothy was a home maker. She was also a member of the Donovan Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and canning.

 

Surviving Mrs. Trumble is one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Steven Wischmeyer of Indianapolis, Indiana; one sister, Margaret Maxwell of Watseka, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by both parents; husband, Jesse; two brothers, Dan and John; and three sisters, Anna-Mae, Ruth, and Mary.

 

A Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 1:00 pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Pastor Elaine Daughtery  will officiate.

 

Burial will follow at Prairie Dell Cemetery in Iroquois, IL.

Dorothy E. Barlow, 88, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017.


She was born on July 2, 1929 in Eldorado, Illinois, the daughter of Mike Prehara and Mary (Dietz) Prehara.


Dorothy married Clarence Barlow on November 7, 1947.


She was a Member of the IWQIU Union. Dorothy also enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, and crocheting.


Surviving Mrs. Barlow is her sons and daughter-in-laws, Larry and Carla Barlow of Onarga, IL, Michael and Shirley Barlow of Goreville, IL; daughters and sons-in-laws, Janice and Michael Bonnell of Bourbonnais, IL, Deborah Barlow of Kankakee, IL, Linda and Michael Ryan of Bourbonnais, IL and Alan Hobl of Watseka; sister-in-law, Virginia Cotter of McCleansboro, IL; grandchildren, Alicia and Matt Laffoon, Jacob Barlow, Ellyn and Bob Harroun, Melissa and Jimmy Rix, Donnie and Charlotte Smoot, Todd and Lisa Oster, Bill and Cris Oster, Robert Humphrey Jr. (Dawn Heideman), Melinda and Sonny Bernal, Chad and Ramie Kolitwenzew, Katie and Troy Graves, and Mackenzie Ryan; great-grandchildren, Sawyer and Madisyn Laffoon, Brody and Evan Smoot, Parker and Henry Harroun, Roman and Jamie Boisvert, Tyler Humphrey, Nolan and Maddi Rix, TJ and Cam Eades, Carley and Kennedy Oster, Justin Cross, Logan Oster, Lucas, Isaiah, and Alexis Bernal, Owen and Layne Kolitwenzew, and Sophia and Penelope Graves; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 4-8pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.

 

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 13, 2017 at 10:00 am, at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church in Watseka, with Father Michael Powell officiating.


Burial will follow on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 11:00 am, at Douglass Cemetery in Eldorado, Illinois.

Eileen Taylor - 79

Eileen Taylor, age 79, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017, with her family by her side in rural Kentland, Indiana.  

Eileen was born on Sunday, December 5, 1937 in Brook, Indiana.   She married Allen O. Taylor on March 24, 1956.   Allen passed away on November 4, 2005.  

Eileen graduated from Brook High School in 1955.   She was a farm wife and enjoyed making cakes.   She was a member and Sunday school teacher at the Iroquois Methodist Church in Iroquois, Eastern Star, a long time leader of the Iroquois Concord Booster 4-H Club.  

Mrs. Taylor is survived by three daughter and son in laws:   Dottie (Dennis) Waldron of Palm Coast, Florida; Anita (John) Owens of Watseka, Illinois and Tammie Dorsch of Beaverville, Illinois.   Grandchildren: Laticia Andruch of Crown Point, Indiana;  Andrew Taylor of Iroquois;  Bailey and Ty Dorsch of Beaverville;  Kayin, Jacob and Adam Owens of Watseka.  Many other honorary children and grandchildren.   She was proceeded in death by her husband, Allen and brother, James Griffin.  

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, Illinois.    

Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00am at the Iroquois Methodist Church in Iroquois.   Memorial may be made to family wishes. 

Burial will be in the Morris Chapel Cemetery in Iroquois, Illinois.               

Jeffrey L Harms - 65

 Jeffrey L. Harms, age 65, passed Monday, September 25, 2017, with his family by his side in rural Watseka, Illinois.   A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 10:00am at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford, Illinois.   Pastor Karl Gibbs officiating.

Jeff was born on Friday, February 15, 1952, in Watseka, Illinois to Dennis and Helen (Ahlden) Harms.  He married Pamela (West) Harms on June 26, 1970 in Watseka, Illinois.    

Jeff graduated from Crescent-Iroquois High School, was an avid hunter and a farmer.  He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Milford, Illinois.   Jeff enjoyed reading the Bible and sharing God’s word.  He made many trips to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina and was a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent.      

Mr. Harms is survived by his wife, Pamela; three sons – Jon (Amy) Harms of Watseka, Josh (Gretchen) Harms of Milford and Jake (Olivia) Harms of Milford.   Three brothers – David (Joyce) Harms of Vancouver, Washington; Keith (Jannette) Harms of Delavan, Wisconsin and Kevin (Tina) Harms of Paxton, Illinois.   Grandchildren – Paul, Molly, Dorothy, Hannah, Ruth, Benjamin and Josiah Harms.  Jeff was also survived by several nieces and nephews.  He was proceeded in death by his father-in-law, Ben (Buzz) West.         

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, Danville Women’s Care Clinic, National Rifle Association and Iroquois Memorial Hospice.
