Opal Alma Perry, 94, of Milford, IL, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016.

  

She was born on May 21, 1922 in Milford, IL, the daughter of Ray Stanley and Alma (Hicks) Stanley.

 

Opal was the Owner and Kennel Operator of Perry’s AKC for over 50 years. She loved everyone and her door was always open.

 

Surviving Mrs. Perry is one son, Frankie R. Perry of Watseka; one daughter, Donna Campbell of Woodland; one grandchild, Jacob Campbell; two sisters, Rita Stanley and Kim Stanley; and close family members, Tracie Hartman of Hoopeston, Russell Lauder of Milford, and Joe and Amber Pocica.

 

She is also preceded in death by both parents; one grandson, Frankie A. Perry; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Perry; one son in law, Bill Campbell; and one brother, Russell Stanley.

 

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016, from 10 – 11 am, at Baier Funeral Home.

 

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11:00 am, at Baier Funeral Home. Pastor David Perry will officiate.

 

Burial will follow at Lyman Cemetery in Watseka, IL.

Elsie Reder - 87

Ms Elsie Margot Reder, of Watseka, IL, passed away on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the age of 87. Elsie was born to parents August and Wanda Reder on March 10, 1929 in Chicago, IL. The family moved to Iroquois Co. where she grew up as the second youngest child of six and graduated in 1948 from Wellington High School. She then enrolled at Lakeview School of Nursing in Danville. After nurses training, she continued her education at St. Xaiver in Chicago while working as an RN, attaining a Masters Degree. Elsie found her passion in teaching psychiatric nursing, becoming a professor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Elsie retired from teaching in 1985. She returned to Watseka where she remained active in nursing and volunteering at Calvary Lutheran Church delivering tapes of weekly masses to shut-in parishioners. Elsie is survived by her sister, Leona Anne Vitous; nephews, Paul, Phillip, and Kurt Reder, Greg Vitous; niece, Lois Ann (Reder) Thomas. She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Wanda; her brothers, Frederich, Ferdinand, and August; her sister Ella Case; nephews Eric Reder, Mark and Mike Vitous; nieces, Phyllis Reder and Jeanne Reder. A cremation will take place. On January 14 at 10 a.m., friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life service at Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka. Memorials can be made to Calvary Lutheran Church, Watseka.

Joyce A. Schroeder, 77, of Milford, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016.

She was born June 25, 1939 in Brazil, IN, the daughter of Charles Courtney and Anna (Walton) Tuggle.

Ms. Schroeder worked at Howard Industries for 23 years as an assembler, then later worked at QSE for 5 years. She was an avid reader, enjoyed spending time with her family, doing jigsaw puzzles, and crocheting.

Surviving Ms. Schroeder are three sons and daughter in law’s, Steven Schroeder of Carmi, IL, Donald and Tricia Schroeder of Loda, and Michael and Kim Schroeder of Milford; two daughters and son in law’s, Rhonda and Alan Henrichs of Onarga, and Julie and Richard Reeder of Milford; two sisters and brother in law, Nancy Schroeder of Bedford, IN, and Ilene and Paul Christensen of Bedford, IN; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; sixteen nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by both parents; one son, Melvin Schroeder Jr.; one brother, Robert Courtney; and one granddaughter, Kelly Schroeder.

Memorial contributions in Ms. Schroeder’s name can be made to the Milford Library or IMH Hospice.

Helen Gray, 96 of Watseka, IL passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016.

She was born on April 7, 1920 in Iroquois Township, IL, the daughter of Charles Kaufman and Mary (Cnudde) Kaufman.

Helen married Cecil Gray on May 13, 1939.

Helen was a farmer’s wife and a mother. She was also a member of the Gleaner Society. She enjoyed crocheting and spending time with family.

Surviving Mrs. Gray two sons and daughter-in-law, Charles and Marianne Gray of Watseka and Roger Gray of Watseka; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Glenn Thomas of White Heath, IL; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by both parents; husband, Cecil; and four brothers.

Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11:00 am. Pastor Robert Sabo will officiate.

Burial will take place at Lyman Cemetery, Watseka, IL

Sue Ellen Pfingsten, 74, of Watseka, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2016.


She was born onOctober 14, 1942 in Watseka, IL, the daughter of Warren Williams and Ruth (Nally) Williams.
Sue married Leon Pfingsten on September 29, 1963 in Woodworth, IL.

Mrs. Pfingsten was a homemaker and ran a cleaning service. She was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka, as well as a member of the Legion Auxiliary for 40 years. She also served as an election judge. Sue enjoyed camping, traveling, sporting events, and the BEARS.

Surviving Mrs. Pfingsten is her husband, Leon Pfingsten of Watseka; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Lisa Pfingsten of Redding, CA; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Jim Schork of Fenton, MO; three grandchildren, Jimmy and Jeremy Schork of Fenton, MO and Savanna Hawley of Chico, CA; one brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Williams of Watseka, IL; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous brother in law’s and sister in law’s.

She is also preceded in death by both her parents; and her in law’s, Walter and Elma Pfingsten.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 from 4-7pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 10:00 am, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Watseka. A one hour visitation will be held prior to services. Pastor Donald Love will officiate.
 
Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Woodworth, IL.

Richard "Dick" Corke - 67

Richard “Dick” Corke, 67, of Watseka, Il, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016.

He was born on November 10, 1948, the son of Stanley Corke and Ruth (Bouhl) Corke.

Richard married Cindy Grimm on September 28, 1988 in Barron, WI.

Mr. Corke served in the ARMY as a Military Police. He was a Watseka City Police officer for thirty years, before retiring as Chief. He then went on to become Cissna Park town police officer for ten years.  Richard also worked part-time for the Iron Horse as security. He was a member of the Cissna Park American Legion, the Iroquois County DTSB,  and was an Alderman for Watseka. Richard was an avid fisher man who also enjoyed hunting, gardening, doing handy work, traveling, but only by car and watching the CUBS play.

Surviving Mr. Cork is his wife, Cindy Corke of Watseka; one sister and brother-in-law, Rita and Dave Brutlag of Hudson, IL; four special cats, Buttercup, Snickers, Wayne, and Garth; and seven nieces and nephews.

He is also preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Ron; one sister-in-law, Sheila; and one brother-in-law, John Skawinski.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 form 4-7pm, at Baier Funeral Home.

She was born on September 14, 1929 in Watseka, the daughter of Eugene Marcott and Lottabelle (Walter) Marcott. Marietta married Lawrence Farrar on January 31, 1948 at the Presbyterian Parsonage in Watseka. Mrs. Farrar worked for Western Condensor for a few years before becoming a homemaker. She enjoyed reading, bird watching, walking, and family time. Surviving Mrs. Farrar is her husband, Lawrence Farrar of Watseka; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Becky Farrar of Bourbonnais, IL; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandie and Brian Bohlmann of Watseka; one brother, Wilbur Marcott of Washington, IL; grandchildren, Michael Gaines of Normal, IL, Andrew Gaines of Carbondale, IL, Amy and Bob Shelton of Hughesville, Maryland, and Todd and Jaymi Bohlmann of Leroy, IL, and a very special grand dog, Baisley; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lexi Bohlmann, and Hanna and Robbie Shelton; and many nieces and nephews. Mary Ellen Ralph, 79, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2016.

She was born on July 6, 1937 in Ashkum, IL, the daughter of Elmer Prater and Lenora (Mason) Prater.

Mary Ellen married Marion Ralph on February 17, 1957 at the Methodist Church in Watseka.

Mrs. Ralph worked as a cashier for Scotchman’s.

She enjoyed reading, playing cards, watching the CUBS, Watseka High School sports, and the UofI.

Surviving Mrs. Ralph is her husband, Marion Ralph of Watseka; two sons and daughter-in-law’s, David and Cheryl Ralph of Dry Ridge, KY and Mark and Carol Ralph of Two River, WI; three sisters and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Ken Brown of Crescent City, Eileen Duden of Woodland, and Janet Rabideau of Watseka; six grandchildren, Ian, Rileigh, Caleb, Nathan, Katelyn, and Ethan; and nineteen nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by both parents; and one sister, Nancy Thompson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm, at Baier Funeral Home.

Harry J. Manning, 68, of Milford, Illinois, passed away on September 18, 2016 at his home.

He was born on February 14, 1948 in Chicago, IL, the son of William D. Manning Sr. and Geraldine (Cronin) Manning.

Mr. Manning served in the United States Marine Corp. as an E4 Corporal, completing two tours in Vietnam, serving on the bomb division. He worked for the Union Local 150 as an International Operator Engineer.

Harry was a member of the AM Vets Post 67 of Beecher, VietNow in Dupage County Chapter, American Legion in Cissna Park, and the NRA. He enjoyed racing and gardening.

Surviving Mr. Manning is his daughters, Jennifer Gallegos of Colorado Springs, CO, Michelle Cooper of Colorado Springs, CO, Elizabeth Ann Manning of Monee, IL, and Catherine Weber of Kempton, IL; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick L. and Suesan Manning of Beecher, IL; sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Richard McArtor Jr. of Milford, IL; seven grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Sean Lowry, Vanessa Grime, Richard McArtor III, Bridget McArtor, Patrick W. Manning, and Amber Renalds.

He is also preceded in death by both parents.

Private arrangements have been made for Graveside Services.

Burial will be held at a later date at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.

Patricia E. McGill - 82

Patricia E. McGill, age 82, joined into everlasting life Friday, September 16 at Prairieview Lutheran Home in Danforth.
She was born December 13, 1933 to William and Myrtle (Waters) Grice at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka. She graduated from Watseka Community High School and resided in the Watseka area her entire life.
Patricia, who many simply called Pat or Aunt Patsy, worked for many years as a receptionist at WGFA Radio and worked as a legal assistant at the Razzano Law Office in Watseka well past her 80th birthday.
She enjoyed playing the piano, and when visiting her home, family and friends often found candy laid out and an episode of Law & Order on the television. But, above all, her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandsons. She often spent weekends with them at the community pool or attended their junior high basketball or little league baseball games. Her grandsons, Patrick (Katie) Pfingsten of Indianapolis, IN and Zachary Pfingsten of Champaign, survive.
She is also survived by one son, Steven McGill of Martinton; one sister, Judy (Dave) Cluver of Watseka; and brother-in-law William Razzano of Watseka. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews she loved like children.
Preceding her in death were her daughter, Kathryn Sells, and sister Phyllis Razzano. She is surely enjoying their reunion.
A visitation will be held 4-6pm Friday, September 23 at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Burial will follow at a later date at the Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
