Marjorie Jean Washburn, 86, of Hillsboro, Il formerly of Watseka, Il, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015. She was born on March 4, 1929 in Casey, Il, the daughter of Ivan Carpenter and Lydia (Cochanour) Carpenter. Marjorie married James R. Washburn on July 20, 1948. He passed on October 5, 1982. Mrs. Washburn was a receptionist at Illinois Bell for 10 years and a dispatcher for AT&T for 10 years. She was also a member of the Lady’s Auxiliary VFW in Watseka. She enjoyed cross stitching and baking. Surviving Mrs. Washburn is one son and daughter-in-law, James and Lynn Washburn of Taylor Springs, IL; one grandchild, Ken Kellerman of Decatur, Il; three great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by both parents; husband, James Washburn; and two sisters, Judy and Rosemary. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 12:00pm-1:00pm at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Carl McCarty Berg, 23, of Kentland, IN formerly of Cissna Park, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2015. He was born on September 6, 1991 in Danville, IL, the son of Glenn Berg and Linda (McCarty) Berg. Mr. Berg worked as a farmer for McCarty Family Farms, worked with INTX - Biological Fertilizer Company in Kentland, IN and was a Laborer for Yates Construction. He played MCP Football, was a member of the Fountain Creek 4-H and showed cattle at Iroquois County Fair, and a member of Cissna Park FFA. Carl enjoyed fishing, chopping firewood, and golfing. He was a big BEARS, Boilers and CUBS fan. Most of all he enjoyed farming with his brothers and his grandpa, as well as grandma Pat’s cooking. Most recently he became a Member of the Local #274 Lafayette, IN. Surviving Mr. Carl Berg are his parents, Glenn and Linda Berg of Cissna Park, IL; four brothers and sister-in-laws, Michael and Melissa Blanding of Wolcott, IN, Mark and Jennifer Blanding of Brook, IN, Nye Berg of Cissna Park, and Tyler Blanding of Cissna Park; four nieces and nephews, Kylie Blanding, Michaela Blanding, Trenton Blanding, and Evan Blanding; maternal grandparents, Delbert and Patricia McCarty of Kentland, IN; three aunts, Karen (John) Dolan, Susan McCarty, Sandra (Bob) Bevill; one uncle, Bob Berg; and nine cousins. He is also preceded in death by one uncle, Dick Berg; and paternal grandparents, Carl and Dorothy Berg. Donna “Chris” Schoonveld, 63, of Iroquois, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2015. She was born December 25, 1951 in Watseka, IL, the daughter of James Schultz and Phyllis (Eckstein) Schultz. Donna was a secretary at FS in Beaverville for 20 years. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, and canning. She was also active in 4-H in her younger years. Surviving Ms. Schoonveld are three sons and daughter-in-law, Steven and Lisa Eilers of Brook, IN, Scott Eilers of Iroquois, Eric and Monica Schoonveld of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters and son-in-law, Ali Eilers of Cissna Park, Lacy and Bill Buss of Lincoln, IL; father, James Schultz of Iroquois; two brothers and sister-in-law, Brad and Kathy Schultz of Florida, Jim Schultz of Iroquois; one sister, Carol Massey of Kentland, IN; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her mother; and one sister, Connie. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 4-8pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 12:00pm, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Beaverville. With a one hour visitation being held prior to mass. Lloyd Boone, 95, of Watseka, formerly of Martinton, IL, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015. He was born on May 2, 1920 in St. Anne Township, the son of Walter Boone and Louise (Bolen) Boone. Lloyd married Dorene Provost on April 19, 1941 at St. George Catholic Church. She passed on July 2, 2009. Mr. Boone was a Farmer. He was also a Charter Member of Martinton Lions Club, Member of the Farmers Bureau, and a Member of District #4391 Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, all sports, especially CUBS Baseball. Surviving Mr. Boone are three sons and daughter-in-laws, Wallace Boone of Chebanse, Rodney and Gloria Boone of Martinton, Bruce and Judy Boone of Frankfort, IL; five grandchildren, Ryan (Kristy) Boone, Renee (Jay) Morris, Robyn (Brandon) Branson, Anne Marie Boone and Chris Bray, Julie Boone and Tazio Kubbs; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by both parents; wife, Dorene; and one brother, Camille. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 4-8 pm, at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Jerry Dean Alcorn, 73, of Bourbonnais, IL formerly of Watseka, IL, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015. He was born on February 14, 1942 in Watseka, IL, the son of Melvin Alcorn and Rena (Boomgarden) Alcorn. Jerry married Virginia Brown on February 26, 1969 in Watseka, IL. Mr. Alcorn served in the Navy from 1959 – 1963. He was a member of the American Legion in Bradley as well as the VFW in Bradley. Jerry was an electrician for Crown Cork and Seal in Bradley, IL for 38 years. He recently retired in 2007, but still enjoyed working for NAPA in Kankakee for the last 8 years. He enjoyed watching the races at Mac & Frankie’s with friends, as well as spending time with family. Surviving Mr.Alcorn is his wife, Virginia Alcorn of Bourbonnais; four sons and daughter-in-laws, Scott Campbell of Springfield, IL, John and Yolanda Alcorn of Florida, Jeff and Pat Alcorn of Hersher, and Jason and Shelley Alcorn of Bourbonnais; one brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Thelma Alcorn of Watseka; three sisters and brother-in-laws, Lola and Merle Arnold of Watseka, Carol DeLahr of Watseka, and Judy and Jim Crouch of Watseka; ten grandchildren, Jessica and Melyssa Campbell, Wes Alcorn, Trevor (Katelyn) Alcorn, Cameron, Matthias, and Xavier Alcorn, and Cote, Morgan, and Rylee Alcorn; three great-grandchildren, Jase, Brynlee, Fulton; and many nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Wes; one son, Jerry Jr.; one daughter, Crystal; and one brother-in-law, Marvin DeLahr. Peter Necco, 80, of Kentland, IN passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015. He was born on April 4, 1935 in Gary, IN, the son of Peter Necco and Virginia (Kravets). Mr. Necco was a Steel Worker and served in the ARMY. He enjoyed sports especially the CUBS. Surviving Mr. Necco is four sons and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Tara Burns of Belknap, IL, Paul Necco of Logansport, IN, Brian Burns of Columbus, OH, and Jim Burns of Las Vegas, NV; five grandchildren, Tai Burns, Lyndia Burns, Zachary Burns, Brianna Bates, Brooke Burns; and four great-grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by both his parents; one brother, David. Private graveside services will be held later in the week by the family. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Portage, IN.

Bernice D. Rajala, 96, of Watseka, IL formerly Park Ridge, IL, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015. She was born June 30, 1919 in Niles, IL, the daughter of Herman Ellerbrock and Elsie (Stolting) Ellerbrock. Bernice married Walfred Rajala on October 7, 1939. He passed on December 14, 1996. Mrs. Rajala was an Operator for Central States Telephone Company as well as a Bookkeeper for Yost and Company in Park Ridge, IL. She was a member of the Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, IL, Calvary Lutheran Church, and a former member of the W.O.S.A. at St. Andrews. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, golfing, and bowling. Surviving Mrs. Rajala is one daughter-in-law, Bonnie Rajala of Watseka; one sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and John Vogt of Florida; one sister-in-law, Mary Rajala of Chassel, MI; two grandchildren, Kirstin Rajala of Atlanta, GA, and Amy and Mark Harper of Frisco, TX; four great-grandchildren, Gabriela Sexson, Gary Sexson III, Ian Harper, and Jayson Harper; and four nephews, Jerry Nebel, Terry Vogt, Michael Vogt, and Jeffrey Vogt. She is also preceded in death by both her parents; husband, Walfred Rajala; one brother; one sister; and one son, Bruce Rajala. Howard Hillary, 91, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on May 25, 1924 in Loda, IL, the son of Amos Hillary and Bess (Schmink) Hillary. Howard married Barbara Hurt on November 9, 1957 in Kentland, IN. Mr. Hillary worked for Hicks Gas & Meyer Oil. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Hall Club. He also enjoyed gardening, yard work, and was an avid CUBS fan. Surviving Mr. Hillary is his wife, Barbara Hillary of Watseka; three daughters, Carolyn and Victoria Thornburg of Watseka, Bonnie and Sonja Thornburg of Iroquois, Donna and Greg Crouch of Milford; one sister, Verla Menigoz of Watseka; four grandchildren, Darci and Erik Thordarson, Dustin and Chrystal McCullough, and Danielle and Ross Huntley, and Mark Hillary; six great-grandchildren, Paityn, Ainsley Grace, and Emery Thordarson, Asher and Keaton Huntley, and Marie Price; and many nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by, both parents; two sons, Eugene Hillary and Bobby Thornburg; one grandson, Chris Hillary; two sisters, Ethel Moran and Emogene Hillary; two brothers, Marion Hillary and Dale Hillary; and one sister-in-law, Carolyn Hillary. John K. Kimble, 67, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2015. He was born on October 6, 1947 in Watseka, IL, the son of Raymond Kimble and Helen (Hedge) Kimble. John married Audrey Styck in Watseka, on April 10, 1970. Mr. Kimble was a Welder at Stams Manufacturing and a Fork life Operator at Life Time Doors. He enjoyed fishing. Surviving Mr. Kimble is his wife, Audrey Kimble of Watseka; one brother, Larry Kimble of Watseka; mother, Helen Kimble; and father-in-law, James Styck Sr. of Watseka; and many nieces and nephews.
