Danielle Schmohe Vukobratovich, age 34, of Newnan, GA formerly Watseka, IL, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. She was born April 4, 1981 in Gibson City, IL. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald Schomohe, William Glenn, Kenneth and Donna Legan, Elva and Robert Bogard, and her best friend Kathy Light. Surviving Ms. Vukobratovich is her loving partner, Amber Temple; daughter, Bailey Vukobratovich; parents, Patti and Frank Ehrhardt, Dean and Laurel Schmohe, and Scott and Melissa Temple; brothers, William Legan (Melissa Johnson), and Brandon and Becca (Jax) Schmohe; step-sisters, Bobette Tammen (Tom Fairley), Heather and Andy Hazelwood, and Nichole Fuoss; grandmother, Arlene Glenn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Danielle grew up in Iroquois County Illinois. She graduated from Watseka High School in 1999. She graduated from Robert Morris College in Orland Park, IL in 2001 with an Associates Degree in Applied Science, Major in Medical Assistant. She worked at The ARC of Iroquois County for 15 years. She moved to Newnan, GA in November of 2012 and worked for Piedmont Newnan OBGYN for Dr. Charles Slomka, MD. She loved people, an array of music, cooking, but above everything she devoted her life to her daughter and her family. She was able to fulfill her dream of helping other through her generous gift of organ donation. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm, at Celebrations in Watseka, Illinois.

Herbert Smith, 71, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016. He was born on June 22, 1944 in Hoopeston, IL, the son of Russell Smith and Clairine (McBride) Smith. Herbert married Marilyn Schroeder on May 7, 1988 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gilman, Il. Mr. Smith was a factory Worker. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and fishing. Surviving Mr. Smith is his wife, Marilyn Smith of Watseka; one son and daughter-in-law, Herbert Smith Jr. and Jamie of Perry, FL; two daughters and son-in-law's, Sylvia “Jeanie” Deck and Robert of Fairmont, IL and Melinda “Susie” Wilson and Todd of Bloomington, IL; one brother, Joseph Smith of Fayetteville, N.C.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents; and two brothers, James and Harold. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 3-7 pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Garry Fortin, 75 of Watseka, Il, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2016. He was born on February 12, 1940 in Watseka, the son of Vernal Fortin and Dorthy (LaVoie) Fortin. Garry married Janis Houk in 2009 in Watseka. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and fishing. Surviving Mr. Fortin is his wife, Janis Fortin of Watseka; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Fortin of Fathom Park, FL. He is also preceded in death by both parents; and one sister, Florence Cooki Reichert. Cremation rites have been made accordingly. Burial will be held at a later date.

Doris Ahrens-Taber, 85, of Watseka, IL formerly Decatur, IL, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2016. She was born on July 24, 1930 in Chebanse, IL, the daughter of Rudolph Ahrens and Anna (Rabideau) Ahrens. Doris married Thomas Taber Jr. on June 25, 1972 in Decatur, IL. He has since passed. Mrs. Taber was an Operator for Illinois Bell Telephone for 34 years before retiring. She enjoyed watching all sports on TV. Surviving Mrs. Taber is one brother and sister-in-law’s, Rudolph “Rudy” and Pat Ahrens Jr. of Watseka, Karen Ahrens of Watseka, and Sheryl Ahrens of Eagle Grove, IA; six sisters and brother-in-law’s, Betty Ahrens of Watseka, Lois Kennedy of Milford, Reta Myers of Watseka, Ruth Salm of Watseka, Anita and Darrell Speers of Palm Bay, FL, and Kay and James Green of Georgetown, IL; many nieces and nephews including one special niece, Nichole. She is also preceded in death by both parents; husband, Thomas Taber Jr.; two brothers, Francis and Harold Ahrens; two sisters, Geraldine Hinrichs and Joanne Ahrens; four brother-in-law’s, Clarence Kennedy, Harold Salm, Kenneth Myers, and Donald Hinrichs. Lois E. Redburn, 88, of Watseka, Illinois passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2016. She was born on Tuesday, October 18, 1927 in Wellington, the daughter of Edgar and Doris (McClure) Davis. On September 5, 1981, she married Roy Redburn at Milford Christian Church in Milford, Illinois. He passed away in 1988. Mrs. Redburn was a factory worker at Howard Industries in Milford, Illinois. She worked for Catholic Charities and was a member of Centennial Christian Church in Watseka, Illinois. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, sewing, reading, and cooking. Surviving Mrs. Redburn are her children Gary and Betty Hawthorne of Winterhaven, Florida; Gayle Spade of Houston, Texas; and Connie and Chuck Vanhoveln of Iroquois, Illinois; one sister, Sally Long of Danville, Illinois; two step-sons and daughter-in-law’s, Steve Redburn of Milford, Illinois, and Bill and Jodi Redburn of Terre Haute, Indiana; two step-daughters and son-in-law’s, Shirley and Melvin Doughty of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Carol and Larry Taylor of Milford, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Jennifer and Jacob Hagan, Bill Vanhoveln and Megan Murphy, Jacob Schoon and Samantha Griffin, Jordan Schoon and Karissa Cox, and Brian Spade; nine step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; many step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was born on July 10, 1934 in Beaverville Township, IL, the daughter of Lowell Swanson and Catherine (Disosway) Swanson. Marilyn married James Thomison on September 18, 1955 in Sheldon, IL. He has since passed. On August 29, 2013 Marilyn married Severyn Dykstra in Branson, Missouri. Mrs. Thomison-Dykstra was a factory worker in Watseka, IL. She enjoyed traveling and bird watching. Marilyn was a member of the Watseka American Legion Auxiliary, Society of Mayflower Descendants, and Iroquois County of Salon Eight and Forty. Mary married Dwight McGrew on April 4, 1952 in Manhattan, Kansas. He passed on July 21, 1998. Mrs. McGrew was a home maker. She enjoyed playing bridge, crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, and the BULLS. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, taking care of the family, and spending time with her doll baby Olivia. Artie Lee Bratcher, 68, of Watseka, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015. He was born on September 21, 1947 in Watseka, IL, the son of Arthur Bratcher and Hazel (Kessinger) Bratcher. Artie married Louanne Nordmeyer on July 8, 1978 in Clifton, IL. Mr. Bratcher served in the ARMY from 1968 until 1972. He earned the Purple Heart in Vietnam, and was the youngest solider to earn the rank of Captain in Vietnam. Mr. Bratcher worked for Watseka Interstate for 38 years. Artie was a member of the Elks, the American Legion, and the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and flying. Surviving Mr. Bratcher is his spouse, Louanne Bratcher of Watseka; first wife, Lonita (Loni) Burger of Omaha, NB; two sons and daughter-in-law, Eric and Kim Bratcher of Hayward, CA, and Alan Bratcher and fiancée Megan Carmain of Watseka; one sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Robert McCullough of Watseka; four nieces and nephews, Janet Anderson of Sycamore,IL, Danny McCullough of Watseka, Judy Mae Bingman of Savoy, IL , and Patti Jo Jenkins of Flora, IL; and a special friend, Theresa Fowler of Watseka.
