Carroll Adams, 96, of Watseka, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016 in Watseka. She was born on May 27, 1919 in Rantoul, IL, the daughter of Marion Webster and Lucy (Collins) Webster. Carroll married Robert Adams on March 25, 1944 in Chicago, IL. He passed November 4, 1986. Mrs. Adam's worked at the Iroquois County Treasurer’s Office. She was a member of the American Legion and the Ladies Auxiliary. Carroll enjoyed knitting, sewing, camping, jokes, and playing music, especially the mandolin. Surviving Mrs. Adams is one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Marcia Adams of Watseka; one sister, Lorene Whitman of Watseka; two sister-in-law’s, Carolyn Webster of Arkansas and Retha Webster of Watseka; three grandchildren, Luci and Randy DeFauw of Watseka, Daniel Adams II of Dallas, Texas, and Alex and Jessica Adams of Donovan; five great-grandchildren, Jacob DeFauw, Dylan DeFauw, Adrienne Adams, Hunter Adams, and Sawyer Adams; and many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by both her parents; husband, Robert Adams; two brothers, Melvin and Daniel Webster; and three sisters and brother-in-law’s, Connie (Kenny) Bierger, Jean (Harold) Ahlen, and Doris (Wes) Kissack. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 from 11:00a-1:00p, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 1:00p, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Pastor Joseph Hughes will officiate. Bert Byrle Eckstein II - 836/13/1932 - 2/29/2016

Beloved father, Bert Byrle Eckstein II, age 83, of Leesburg, FL, formerly of Sheldon, IL, moved to Heaven joining his Lord and Savior February 29th, 2016. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlyss Munsterman and his second wife Gladys (DeMent) Flota. He was the son of the late Homer and Aileen (Hocutt) Eckstein of Donovan, IL. His sister Phyllis (Jim) Schultz, his grandson Jonathan M. Eckstein, and his devoted dog, Suzie, also preceded him in death. Three children survive: Bert Eckstein III of Chicago Ridge, IL; Arlyn Eckstein of Leesburg, FL; Arlyn’s twin sister, Arlynda Eckstein also of Leesburg, FL; and a great grandson, Emrys Eckstein of Goldwaithe, TX. Also, surviving are step children, Danna (Darrel) Fischer of Watseka, IL, and Stan (Brenda) Flota of Florence, MS. Step grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive as well. Bert was born June 13, 1932, in Watseka, IL, and graduated from Donovan High School in 1950. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and served in the Korean War where he was stationed as Control Tower Chief in Japan. He was married to Arlyss Munsterman from 1955 until her death in October of 1976. He later married Gladys Flota in 1981, and they were married until her death in 2007. Bert worked as an agent at Iroquois Insurance in Watseka, IL, and Allstate in Kankakee, IL, where most all of his clients became his friends? Bert officiated as a layman and sang at the Woodland United Methodist church, served as a member of the Woodland Schoolboard, enthusiastically volunteered at the VA in Manteno, became Exalted Ruler at the Elks Lodge in Kankakee, and organized and became President of the Watseka Flying Falcons. During retirement he enjoyed singing, driving a tractor for local farmers, restoring his ’56 Ford pickup, reading and watching westerns, and flying radio controlled airplanes! Eventually, he sold his Sheldon home and moved to Florida accompanied by his dog Suzie to enjoy time with the twins. Yet, he always considered Iroquois County home! In lieu of flowers, please consider memorials to the Woodland United Methodist Church as this church was dear to Bert. A wake honoring Bert Eckstein will be held at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka, IL on Saturday, March 5, 2016 from 4-7pm. The Woodland United Methodist Church will host the funeral services on Sunday, March 6, 2016, at 2:00 pm. Committal will be a private service.

Dorothy Williams, 76, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2016. She was born on March 6, 1939 in Cayunga, IN, the daughter of Cecil Murdock and Ethel (Browning) Murdock. Dorothy married George Snedeker in 1957 in Chicago, IL. He passed in 1975. She later married Ronald Williams on June 5, 1982 in Watseka, Il. He has since passed as well. Mrs. Williams was a live in companion for elderly. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano, cards, and helping others. Surviving Mrs. Williams is two sons and daughter-in-law, George Snedeker of Oregon and Michael and Lisa Snedeker of Lafayette, IN; two daughters, Judith Snedeker of Lafayette, IN and Carol Shoemaker of Lafayette, IN; one sister and brother-in-law, Louella and Sam Cook of Watseka, IL; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by both parents; two husbands, George Snedeker and Ronald Williams; four brothers; and two sisters. Cremation rites have been made accordingly.

Mary E. Hines, 96, of Venice, FL, passed away on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Harbor Inn, at Venice, FL. She was born on October 31, 1919 in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of Joseph Vorick and Mary (Kozak) Vorick. Mary married Ralph “Bud” Hines Sr. on June 21, 1941 in Hoopeston, IL. Mrs. Hines was an Electronic Inspector for Littlefuse which was located in Watseka at one time. She enjoyed gardening, outdoor activities and cooking. Surviving Mrs. Hines is one son and daughter-in-law, Gene and Kay Hines of Venice, FL; one brother and sister-in-law, Lewis and Lucy Vorick of Chicago; one sister, Margaret Carter of Pekin, IL; one grandchildren, Eric Hines; and many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by both parents; and husband, Ralph “Bud” Hines. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 from 9am-11am, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at 11:00 am, at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church. Father Michael Powell will officiate. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland, IL. Danny married Sue Ratliff on June 16, 2001 in Watseka, IL. Mr. Thomas was a Geography and History teacher for Iroquois West High School. He enjoyed photography and bird watching. Surviving Mr. Thomas is his wife, Sue Thomas of Watseka; mother, Mary Ann Thomas of Watseka; one son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Mary Ratliff of Copperas Cove, TX; one brother, Jeff and Darla Thomas of Oakley, CA; two grandchildren, Corrine and Susan Ratliff of Copperas Cove, TX; and many nieces and nephews. He is also preceded in death by his father, Oscar Thomas; and one sister-in-law, Diana Cailteux. Mildred Zelhart, 92, of Beaverville, IL, passed away on Friday, February 12, 2016. She was born on November 16, 1923 in Kankakee, the daughter of Charles Sommer and Lela (Morris) Sommer. Mildred married Warren Zelhart on April 22, 1943. He has since passed. Mrs. Zelhart was a sewer at Kroehler Manufacturing. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and crocheting. Surviving Mrs. Zelhart are two sons and daughter-in-law’s, Phillip and Joy Zelhart of Beaverville, Kevin and Dawn Zelhart of Fayetteville, Tenn; one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Wayne Rieches of Watseka; two brothers, Charles Sommer of Kankakee and Donald Sommer of Washington; seven grandchildren, Lisa Lease, Angie Arseneau, Roberta Clutz, Leighann Greenawalt, Veselin Rieches, Stacy Kaufmann, and Kaitlyn Zelhart; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by both parents; husband, Warren Zelhart; one sister, Violet; and two brothers, Richard and Lenord. Joyce Ann Frederickson, 68, of Woodland, IL passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2016. She was born on March 27, 1947 in Duquoin, IL, the daughter of Raymond Kester and May (Ress) Kester. Joyce married Brad Frederickson on February 8, 1968 in Joliet, IL. Mrs. Frederickson worked at Protype Printing and was Co-Owner and Operator for Aloha Kennels in Woodland, IL. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching. Surviving Mrs. Frederickson is her husband, Brad Frederickson in Woodland, IL; and one grandchild, Brock Frederickson of Illinois. She was preceded in death by both parents; one brother, Kenneth Kester; one sister, Carol Kester; and one son, Herbert Frederickson. Burial will be held at a later date. Danielle Schmohe Vukobratovich, age 34, of Newnan, GA formerly Watseka, IL, passed away on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Piedmont Atlanta Hospital. She was born April 4, 1981 in Gibson City, IL. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Donald Schomohe, William Glenn, Kenneth and Donna Legan, Elva and Robert Bogard, and her best friend Kathy Light. Surviving Ms. Vukobratovich is her loving partner, Amber Temple; daughter, Bailey Vukobratovich; parents, Patti and Frank Ehrhardt, Dean and Laurel Schmohe, and Scott and Melissa Temple; brothers, William Legan (Melissa Johnson), and Brandon and Becca (Jax) Schmohe; step-sisters, Bobette Tammen (Tom Fairley), Heather and Andy Hazelwood, and Nichole Fuoss; grandmother, Arlene Glenn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Danielle grew up in Iroquois County Illinois. She graduated from Watseka High School in 1999. She graduated from Robert Morris College in Orland Park, IL in 2001 with an Associates Degree in Applied Science, Major in Medical Assistant. She worked at The ARC of Iroquois County for 15 years. She moved to Newnan, GA in November of 2012 and worked for Piedmont Newnan OBGYN for Dr. Charles Slomka, MD. She loved people, an array of music, cooking, but above everything she devoted her life to her daughter and her family. She was able to fulfill her dream of helping other through her generous gift of organ donation. A Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm, at Celebrations in Watseka, Illinois.

Herbert Smith, 71, of Watseka, Illinois, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016. He was born on June 22, 1944 in Hoopeston, IL, the son of Russell Smith and Clairine (McBride) Smith. Herbert married Marilyn Schroeder on May 7, 1988 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Gilman, Il. Mr. Smith was a factory Worker. He enjoyed crossword puzzles and fishing. Surviving Mr. Smith is his wife, Marilyn Smith of Watseka; one son and daughter-in-law, Herbert Smith Jr. and Jamie of Perry, FL; two daughters and son-in-law's, Sylvia “Jeanie” Deck and Robert of Fairmont, IL and Melinda “Susie” Wilson and Todd of Bloomington, IL; one brother, Joseph Smith of Fayetteville, N.C.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both parents; and two brothers, James and Harold. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 3-7 pm, at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Garry married Janis Houk in 2009 in Watseka. He enjoyed gardening, reading, and fishing. Surviving Mr. Fortin is his wife, Janis Fortin of Watseka; one brother and sister-in-law, John and Mary Fortin of Fathom Park, FL. He is also preceded in death by both parents; and one sister, Florence Cooki Reichert. Cremation rites have been made accordingly. Burial will be held at a later date.
